The Stars Come
Out for Raceday!
Now in it's tenth year Formula Schools continues to attract the attention
of the motorsport industry, who recognise the need to foster and encourage
young talent in a bid to keep the UK at the forefront of world motorsport.
This year saw a number of representatives from a wide range of organisations,
including funding bodies and sponsors of the event. Of particular interest
to students were the presence of team members from Honda and Williams
F1.
Also present to officiate at the prizegiving were Chris Walker and
Fiona Leggate.
Chris Walker attended Race Day as a representative of Kawasaki who
kindly brought their media unit and a number of motorcycles to Silverstone.
The Kawasaki reps spent a busy day in the sun allowing pupils to try
out their bikes (stationary of course!).

Chris rides for the team and was 7th in last year's Superbike Championship.
Nicknamed 'The Stalker', Chris showed no ill effects of his recent Monza
crash as he presented a number of prizes at the end of the day.
Fiona Leggate also presented a number of prizes having spent the day
showing students around her bio-ethanol Astra Coupe. Fiona is currently
driving in the British Touring Car Championship and is creating a good
deal of interest with her 'eco-friendly' car; she currently lies 17th
in the standings for the 2006 season.
As usual the event attracted a large amount of media interest with
a number of news/media crews attending the event. Most notable of these
were a crew from ITV Anglia who did a live trackside broadcast for their
lunchtime edition.
