After a few quiet heats, the racing in Heat Nine was fast
and furious with plenty of action and side-by-side racing.
The first leg was dominated by George Spencer, who won with
15 laps, but sadly for them, they missed out on qualification
by the slimmest of margins.
Many of the other competitors seemed to be saving their best
for the second leg, especially Hillside, who travelled down
from the North West. Their good looking car was involved in
a few scrapes, but survived intact to post an impressive 17
laps, securing the heat win as well as qualification for the
GP Final. Every other school that completed laps in the second
leg managed to improve their score.
