Formula
Schools Goes to LeMans 2008
Allan McNish ex F1 Renault and Toyota driver and current No1 Audi
LeMans sports car driver visited his team on Thursday May 15th. He
was in school to check out this years racer and to unveil the car
to media and sponsors. He spoke to the school about the project and
how he thought it a fantastic scheme and how every pupil involved
has had a great opportunity to gain experience in motor-sports and
motor-sports engineering.
Allan brought along David Leslie Snr, father of the late David Leslie
Jnr, the popular touring car driver recently killed in a plane crash
in England. It was David Leslie Snr and Jnr that helped Allan and
David Coulthard to get into racing. He started them off in Karting
and got Allan his first drive in full size racing.
Both of these greatly experienced drivers were overwhelmed by the
standard of the car and how much care and precision had gone into
building this years car. Allan was impressed at the evolution of last
years overall winning car. He was also impressed by the car being
modelled on his own Audi R10 TDi American LeMans Series winning car
from last season.
Allan was so impressed with last years achievements and this years
team and car, He has decided to get our Logo put onto his Audi racing
overalls for the this years LeMans Race.
To have Formula Schools represented at the pinnacle of motor racing
is a credit to everybody involved with the project.
