Race Day 08 - More Twists and Turns Than a Bag of Worms!!

The Building Bridges partnership of Warriner and Bloxham School proved unassailable as they scooped their third prize on the trot.

Formula Schools Electric was another thriller as it was neck and neck between unbeaten Tudor Grange and Bruntcliffes. Post Race Day examination of our electronic and manual counting systems revealed that Tudor Grange would have gained enough points to overwhelm Bruntcliffe in the final round of the Electric GP. There were problems with their transponder which counts the laps. After consultation with both schools we have decided to award the Electric crown as a joint award to Tudor Grange and Bruntcliffe, who together were the dominat pair on Race Day.
Belated congratulations to Tudor Grange.

The I.C Class
Early in the Grand Prix the all conquering Dalbeattie school from last year were on track to take the trophy home to Scotland again, when fate intervened! They failed to score any points in the second round of the Grand Prix final leaving the opportunity for the top prize to go to any one of four contenders ..... In the final outcome reliability proved the key to success with Serlby Park School coming from behind to take the glory

Formula Schools Electric Challenge

The best scheme for embedding into the KS4 curriculum for all vocational engineering and Design based courses. There are two starting points:

1. A basic kit of components which pupils assemble using simple tools and equipment to produce a drivable chassis. From there the opportunities are vast, covering design and manufacture of a bodyshell, alternative chassis, powertrain and performance enhancing components.
Suitable for younger pupils or as an extra-curricular initiative.

2. Engineering curriculum delivery, with materials and ‘impossible to make’ components supplied.
Pupils individually engineer all chassis and powertrain sub-assemblies either from their own designs or to the Formula Schools engineering schedule and drawings.
Suitable for GCSE engineering, PEO levels 1&2, Specialised Diplomas, Young Apprenticeship courses etc.
